Well known for her impressive acting career, Elizabeth Taylor also gained noterity for her massive jewelry collection. One piece in particular is her enagement ring from Richard Burton in 1968. Originally known as the "Krupp Diamond," the 33.16ct jewel received the actress' namesake, the ring was bought in 1969 for $1.12 million and sold for $8.8 million in 2011.

Considered a style icon, one surprising fact about the late Jackie Kennedy is that she amassed quite the jewelry collection. Originally appraised at $400, a set of her pearl necklaces were sold for $85,000 at an estate sale. One of her most prized possessions was her engagement ring from John F. Kennedy. Bought in 1953, the ring was a combination of a 2.88-carat diamond and 2.84 emerald with a French style design of tapered "flowery" baguettes.
